Einige Unicode-Zeichen haben mehrere entsprechende binäre Darstellungen, die aus Sätzen von verbindenden und/oder zusammengesetzten Unicode-Zeichen bestehen. Mehrere Darstellungen für ein einzelnes Zeichen führen zu Komplikationen bei Such-, Sortier-, Vergleichs- und anderen Vorgängen.
Der Unicode-Standard definiert einen als Normalisierung bezeichneten Prozess, der eine binäre Darstellung für jede äquivalente binäre Darstellung eines Zeichens zurückgibt. Die Normalisierung kann mehrere Algorithmen, so genannte Normalisierungsformen verwenden, die verschiedene Regeln einhalten. .NET Framework unterstützt derzeit die Unicode-Normalisierungsformen C, D, KC und KD.

Normalisieren einer Zeichenfolge
Die Anwendung sollte die String.Normalize-Methode eines String-Objekts verwenden, um eine neue Zeichenfolge zurückzugeben, die standardmäßig in die Normalisierungsform C normalisiert wird. Bestimmen, ob eine Zeichenfolge normalisiert wurde
Die Anwendung kann die String.IsNormalized-Methode eines String-Objekts verwenden, um zu bestimmen, ob der Zeichenfolgenwert des Objekts in die Normalisierungsform C normalisiert wurde. Beispiel
