Add a computer to the IP Security Monitor console

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To add a computer to the IP Security Monitor console

  1. Create a console containing IP Security Monitor. Or, open a saved console file containing IP Security Monitor.

  2. In the console tree, right-click IP Security Monitor, and then click Add Computer.

  3. In the Add Computer dialog box:

    • For the local computer, click This computer.

    • For a remote computer, click The following computer, and then type the name of the remote computer. Or, click Browse to find it on the network.

Notes

  • To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure.

  • If the IPSec service is not started on the computer that is being monitored, the server icon is displayed as a stopped service. To refresh IP Security Monitor after the IPSec service on that computer have been restarted, right-click the computer and then click Reconnect.

  • IP Security Monitor can be used to monitor IPSec only on computers running Windows XP or a Windows Server 2003 operating system. To monitor IPSec on a computer running Windows 2000, use the IPSecmon command at a Windows 2000 command prompt.
