Data Analytics Studio (DAS) on HDInsight Cluster

Hello @Christoph Kiefer and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

In the latest 4.0 release, HDInsight started natively supporting the Ambari Hive View again. The document you were following hasn't caught up yet. This support is only in newly created 4.0 clusters. Old ones will either need to be deleted and re-created, or use the DAS as in the article.

Knowing this, do you still want to install DAS?

We will work with the document team to get the document updated. Thank you again for bringing this issue to our attention and helping us improve Azure docs.

At first, DAS looked interesting to me.

Is it a free product that is installable on HDInsight clusters 4.0? Is Microsoft planning a new / modified script to install it?

Hi @Christoph Kiefer . I am reaching out internally to find out more about DAS on new and future cluster.

As to your original issue, I attempted to reproduce. Today I created an interactive query cluster, including the script action in the deployment. The script action reported success (both in the Azure portal, and in the cluster logs). However I was unable to locate the DAS in the Ambari UI. Also, the https://CLUSTERNAME.azurehdinsight.net/das/ endpoint gave network error.

I did not add any networking beyond the default. You mentioned

The software cannot be downloaded from the given URL

Was this during loading of the script file, or was this during the script's execution?
