Azure Kinect DK Power DC Barrel

Hello Everyone!

As I am preparing a multi-kinect test environment I am also checking and testing different powering possibilities.

I got a bit stuck and with problems because of the technical documentation of Azure Kinect DK.

Please, take a look at the description of the dc power barrel:

https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/kinect-dk/hardware-specification#power-device

"Using the in-box power supply. The power connector is a 4.5mm OD with 3.0mm ID and a pin diameter of 0.6mm."

My own cameras came with a barrel 4.5/3.0 (correct) but WITHOUT a pin (misleading documentation).

I have ordered and checked a sample adapter:
https://allegro.pl/oferta/przejscie-dc-wt-hp-envy-4-5-3-0-pin-gn-5-5-2-1-11951534289?snapshot=MjAyMi0xMC0xMVQxNjowNToyNy45MjFaO2J1eWVyO2ZhNmU1NTUxNmRkOTY2MjQ5MzVkYTNmMjJmNDc3MmViYzhiZTExNDkyNDUwMzIyYjVjMDNmNGU5NTQ0ZmFkMGM%3D
(4.5/3.0 + pin)

I had some problems that were also not documented - after powering with use of a power bank (Green Cell PowerPlay20) my kinect started to use the led indicator in... blinking green.
Yes, green. I have not found any descriptions of it in the documentation.

Can someone confirm, that there is an error in the documentation and a missing description?

I would love to hear:

  1. What exact type is the DC barrel expected to be
  2. What does a blinking green light mean?

Best regards!
Sebastian Pokuciński

P.S.
@SatishBoddu-MSFT you were really into my previous post about the environment creation, maybe can you help with some information? :)

    Hi!

I am not worried - I have made it work, so my research is not blocked :)

I can send 2 additional photos

First of all - my custom-bought cable does have a pin. The socket in Camera - also. What is surprising: the delivered cable does not and in fact the custom cable is not really good-fit for the socket.

Here comes what is even more interesting: the order of pluging in makes a difference. If I connect the USB3.0 via USBC first and the power later - it is not working. But when with connected power I disconnect the usbC and reconnect it - solid white led and working configuration.

Long story short: it is possible to make a fully offline, mobile azure dk station. But with some unexpected problems. :)
