Visio setup question

Place this in the too stupid to live category. I'm using Visio 2013.
I dragged the Shapes menu off my screen and I can't find it.

I've tried various things:
different screen resolution
delete registry keys
repair visio
uninstall and install visio
and still no shapes menu.
My next step is to wipe my computer and reinstall Windows.

Any other suggestions to try before I go nuclear???

Visio 2013 does not have a separate shape menu, it is very different from the old version, which used the Office classic menu.
New features in Visio 2013 have been dispersed to other tabs and toolbars.

Correct. I don’t know the proper terminology but there used to be a list of shapes I could select at the left side of the screen. Now it is gone.
Hence my problem. I can no longer add shapes to a drawing.

I’ve clicked View - Task Pane - Shapes several HUNDRED times. I may be dump but I was a network admin for 20 years so I can do the basic stuff. Although I seem to be stupid enough to keep clicking the view button, customizing the ribbon, etc. and thinking it will magically appear.

I can add a screen shot. There is nothing to see other than no shapes takes pane and there are no arrows to make it appear.

I hate Windows 11 anyways so I may just downgrade to 10 and start all over. (Wish I could go back to the only half way decent Windows version - XP.)

I doubt MS supports this version.
I know I dragged it off the screen. I can still work on my old computer so I’ll just reload windows on this one and reinstall everything.

Yep. That’s how my screen used to look.
Now there is nothing, no shapes, no arrows, on the left unless I dock one of the other tiles over there.

I’ll try it. I don’t know what kind of an account I have. I just discovered I have a perpetual MSDN license when looking for help. I’ve never had much luck with Microsoft support.

Apparently my account doesn’t include the ability to contact Microsoft support. I keep getting directed to dead links.

Maybe it’s time to buy a Mac.
