SMAT tool allows you to scan your SharePoint 2013 or 2016 farm, to provide you enough information if your farm is ready for a migration to Office 365 and to assess the potential issues that your farm could have.

    Hi, @sco gordo ,

Per my knowledge, the SMAT still does not support SharePoint 2016 for now. And I have not seen any roadmap talking about this.

Thanks to you both. ShamathKumarAluri, any documentation saying that it'll work with 2016? I only see 2010 and 2013. Thanks.

JerryXu, for the thousands of organizations using 2016, is there a standard way of migrating outside of SMAT. I've read recommendations to avoid trying a lift-and-shift and start fresh and move to o365 piecemeal, which doesn't seem like a bad idea but not sure how much buy in I'd get. I've also used ShareGate during my 2010-2013-2016 migration, which worked pretty well.

I used the same tool for my SharePoint 2016 farm couple of months back and it worked just fine. Below are the couple of articles that are confirming as well.
