According to the Microsoft article (Basic Authentication Deprecation in Exchange Online – September 2022 Update - Microsoft Community Hub), during the first week of the calendar year 2023, those protocols will be disabled for basic auth use permanently, and there will be no possibility of using basic auth after that. so we are using SMTP relay for sending mails directly from your printer or application to Microsoft 365 or Office 365 (direct send) with the help of below settings, will it be stopped with Basic Auth, basic will affect the smtp relay or not?
Server/smart host - MX endpoint, for example, yourdomain-com.mail.protection.outlook.com
Port Port - 25
TLS/StartTLS - Enabled
Email address - Any email address in one of your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 verified domains. This email address does not need a mailbox.

The article clearly states that SMTP is not in going to be affected:

Not in scope for this disablement (we are not making changes to):

    SMTP AUTH

You can read the comments therein for additional clarifications, such as:

Will SMTP AUTH still be supported after 1/1/2023 for those O365 tenants that are already actively using it and don’t have it disabled right now? We will still support SMTP with basic authentication.

Will SMTP AUTH still be supported for existing O365 tenants which currently have SMTP AUTH disabled (as not yet in use) but want to enable it after 1/1/2023? Only for SMTP

Will SMTP AUTH still be supported for new O365 tenants? Yes, for now, I strongly suggest looking for options for modern authentication, API. Until then mitigate the risk with conditional access.

Also keep in mind that there's a separate effort to disable older protocols/cyphers, so your server/apps should be using TLS1.2.

    Hello,

If you're SMTP relay is on Exchange Online, yes Basic Auth will be stopped.
You need to use On-Premise Exchange, or in Azure AD, the app registration, or maybe an service account according to your tools

But, yes SMTP - Port 25 will be disabled, because is unsecure.
