Hyper-V Manager only supports 'Connect to Server', not New Virtual Machine

Just downloaded Windows Pro version to use Hyper-V Virtual Machine.

Based on this 04/26/2022 Microsoft webpage:

... I expected to find an option for a Virtual Machine, but the only option is 'Connect to Server' which only leads to something more complex than I needed.

How can I get a Virtual Machine as described in the Microsoft instructions? Why is this different to instructions, does it mean something needs to be enabled in the Control Panel?

I found Hyper-V Quick Create and have set-up an Ubuntu machine, but how can I find this machine again after I shut it down?

    Hyper-V manager can be used to manage virtual machines across a number of hosts so you need to connect to the Hyper-V host first. This can be the local computer where Hyper-V manager is installed and if you have VMs deployed there then you you see them in the Hyper-V manager and can connect to them. Step 1 is to connect to the host server/computer though.

    Try opening the Hyper-V manager in admin mode. It should show the created image..
