SCCM Clients not scanning for new updates

Hi all we will probably need to raise a case for this but wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. For a handful of devices they are no longer scanning to find new software updates the basic issue is found in the WUAHandler.log

Async searching of updates using WUAgent started.
Async searching completed.
OnSearchComplete - Failed to end search job. Error = 0x80244007.
Scan failed with error = 0x80244007.

ScanAgent.log shows

ScanJob({5E48F7E8-B169-480B-9F67-874A5CDC6EB0}): CScanJobManager::OnScanComplete- Scan has failed, scan request will be pending for scan retry cycle.
CScanAgent::ScanCompleteCallback - failed at OnScanComplete with error=0x87d00631

Basically the issue is the same as [https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/answers/questions/382008/why-is-sccm-sus-scan-failing-on-multiple-servers-w but the fix is not.

I'm about to try uninstalling KB's from the month the issue began (think November last year) from client machines first, if still faulty may need to look at the SUP server too. this is our DMZ and we have only the one SUP they can talk to in that environment.

Does anyone else have any suggestions to look at or have seen any issues with updates from last year? Weirdly the SUP is fin and has since installed and superseded the patches from November

    Hi @ Joshua Reynolds ,

Are all clients facing the same problem? Based on my research, there are many reasons for this error code. Here are some solutions I searched for for your reference:

1, Please help check the IIS configuration, the link for you reference:

SCCM Best Practices Related To IIS For SCCM SUP WSUS Setup Configuration Manager ConfigMgr HTMD Blog (anoopcnair.com)

Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you understand the problem. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information.

2, I found a similar threader and here is his solution for your reference:

    1. Unselect couple of products from SCCM with regards to downloading updates for instance if you have chrome, citrix, win 8.1 etcc. uncheck chrome and citrix and run the sync. check logs. once the issue is fixed re-select those products and check again.
    2. make sure stale, expired or old updates are cleaned up from SCCM and SQL DB.
    3. Run WSUS cleanup from within the tool itself.
    4. there are couple of scripts that are available and which i run on weekly basis which does - Re-index SUSDB, Monthly cleanup of updates and deleting old updates on top of the above steps.

I will do more research; I will be sharing for you if I have any gains.

    Thanks for your time!

    Best regards,
    Cherry

Have you checked the scan status report in a Configuration Manager? Also, are you carrying out any maintenance of your WSUS?
