15928.20198 Causes outlook to close and Word to crash

Hi,

We are experiencing this issue in a corporate LAN/WAN environment with windows defender turned off, in both W10 and W11 pcs.

we are having this issues only on some pcs as of the release of this patch, and haven't found anything in common that could cause this behaviour.


The issue started this monday 09/01/23, and we noticed most of the users had this issue with outlook, and in some spare cases also word (the latter not starting at all).

we have seen that reinstalling the app does not solve the issue, but however navigating with an external connection seems to work correctly, and allows us to use outlook (although we need to execute a repair before word starts working again in the cases in which it stopped working).

as far as troubleshooting we have:

-repaired office
-uninstalled with SaRa
-reinstalled via the 365 installer
-tried updating via excel/command (Open cmd, run as administrator

cd “\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun”

Run officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.6366.2062
)which both failed on our internal network

-tested with a phone tethering/wifi, which allowed us to use Outlook while using that connection


our only workaround is to disable the corporate Firewall and add an exception for the user, but we are not able to find what is being blocked that could cause the issue.

we have also attempted, disabling the AV, executing all windows updates (both for W10 and 11), checking the pfsense and also 

any help is appreciated.
