Hi there,

I have registered an app on my client Azure's portal.

His website uses the app credentials to send emails. It is a Wordpress site using the WP SMPT Mail plugin with the Microsoft Office connector.

The email account used is xxx@myclientcompany.com.

I know my client has a paid subscriptions to Office 365 to manage his company emails but he told me the email address he gave me was from a shared mailbox and not from a paid user account.,

What is the email quota that the website can send through this shared email account?

I know for a free account it is 300 email perm day and for an Office 365 account, 10000 emails per day.

Thanks for your answer.

Nathan

    Hi @Nathan Bernard

I only found the following sending limits for a shared mailbox.

Feature Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Standard Microsoft 365 Business Premium Microsoft 365 Enterprise E3/E5 Office 365 Enterprise E1 Office 365 Enterprise E3/E5 Office 365 Enterprise F3
Recipient rate limit1 10,000 recipients per day 10,000 recipients per day 10,000 recipients per day 10,000 recipients per day 10,000 recipients per day 10,000 recipients per day
Recipient limit2 Customizable up to 1000 recipients Customizable up to 1000 recipients Customizable up to 1000 recipients Customizable up to 1000 recipients Customizable up to 1000 recipients Customizable up to 1000 recipients
    Recipient proxy address limit3 300 300 300 300 300 300
Message rate limit4 30 messages per minute 30 messages per minute 30 messages per minute 30 messages per minute 30 messages per minute 30 messages per minute

But according to that doc, a shared mailbox isn't considered a different SKU, just a different type of mailbox. Therefore, I would think any limitations would be bound by the license associated with the mailbox. I did however retag your question so that the correct audience can review your question.

    Hi @Nathan Bernard

I know my client has a paid subscriptions to Office 365 to manage his company emails but he told me the email address he gave me was from a shared mailbox and not from a paid user account.,

Sorry that my knowledge about registered app is limited so I am not quite clear about how the whole procedure works in your case.

However, from the perspective of Exchange, as mentioned in this document, a shared mailbox is not intended for direct sign-in by its associated user account, instead, a shared mailbox is used by "real" users who have permissions to it. And according to the aforementioned document, "Sending from another mailbox via permissions is counted for the delegate with rights and not the mailbox that is being sent from." Thus it doesn't make sense to know the sending limits for the shared mailbox itself in this case.

By the way, if your client is intended to send legitimate bulk commercial emails, the recommended approach is to use third-party providers that specialize in these services.
