I obtained a mission that migrate a physical windows server 2008 r2 to a new windows server 2022, and i attempted to create a lab to simulate.

I want to use Storage Migration Service in Windows Admin Center on my Windows server 2022 and i attempted to manage my windows server 2008 r2.

My 2008 r2 had installed .Net 4.8 version and WMF 5.1 , the Windows Admin Center always pop out an alert said 'Windows Management Framework (WMF) 5 isn't installed' .

The output of command '$PSVersionTable' is below :

Name Value

PSVersion 5.1.14409.1018

PSEdition Desktop

PSCompatibleVersions {1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0...}

BuildVersion 10.0.14409.1018

CLRVersion 4.0.30319.42000

WSManStackVersion 3.0

PSRemotingProtocolVersion 2.3

SerializationVersion 1.1.0.1

The output of command '(Get-ItemProperty "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4\Full").Release -ge 394802' is below :

True

Windows Server OS : Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter

OS Version : 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 build 7601

Lab environment on my VMWare Workstation 16 (even on Hyper-V shows same error)

Windows server 2008 r2 and Windows server 2022 are same subnet

The Windows Admin Center can display the cpu and memory utilization of windows server 2008 r2 but can't display the basic information like OS Version、Domain、Computer Name...etc.

This is my first try to deal with windows server case,

Please help me checkout what problem i didn't notice, thanks.

I found that if you just want to transfer file from windows server 2008 r2 to newer windows server,

the error message can be ignored.

Just ues the Storage Migration Service directly.
