Hello World!

What is the best way to migrate FTP site data (not files and folders on the disk) from IIS 8.0 on Server 2012 to IIS 10.0 on server 2019? I am setting up a new 2019 FTP server to replace our old 2012 FTP server. All of the data that is within the FTP sites are stored on an external array that will be moved to the new server. Therefore, I want to migrate only the FTP "information" for the site to the new server. Once I connect the array from the old server to the new one, all of the actual files and folders for the FTP sites will be available. I'm attempting to stage the FTP configuration so that I can simply attach the array to the new server and all FTP data will be available and the sites will function properly. Can this be accomplished? I cannot make a copy of the data on the new server because I really don't have space on another array for the millions of files totaling 13 TB of data. Any help is very much appreciated.

    Hi @fountain

There are official tools to achieve what you need.

    1. IIS Easy Migration Tool (IEMT). It helps with the migration from one Microsoft IIS server to another. It helps to transfer web sites, Windows users, Windows user groups, FTP accounts, virtual directories, application pools, SSL certificates, Web/FTP folders structure and also assign NTFS folders permissions. Quick Start Guide.
    2. Web Deploy. Ability to synchronize or migrate the entire Web server, a Web site or application. Synchronize IIS. Hope my answer can help you.

    Best Regard,

Also, there is another way to use CopyRight2's IIS Migration Add-On to migrate Microsoft IIS FTP sites including virtual directories, settings & accounts between servers.
