Office 365 Word Options export not ribbon

Hello

I'm looking for a way to capture all of my customized Word Option from File-Options-General-Display-etc. I work for a firm where we have tons of customized options and need to implement the settings to multiple work stations. If there is no way to export or capture those settings, does anyone know where the exact file is located and can it be cut and pasted to another work station.

    There is no central place that holds these.

    First, look at Word 2007 and later key data locations http://www.msofficeforums.com/word/13675-word-2007-later-key-data-file-locations.html. As far as I know, that is pretty much up to date.

    The Word data key is really not portable. The solution that will capture many but not all option settings is to record a macro for them.

    1. Start recording a macro.
    2. Go to every option dialog that you have including any for tracked changes. In multi-tab dialog boxes like that for AutoCorrect Settings, go to every tab.
    3. Save the macro and take a look at it.
    4. Run the macro on one of the new installations. Many of your options will transfer.

    The Ribbon export tool is a sledge hammer but it may be the only thing you have. It overwrites anyone's personal ribbon or qat modifications. Long term, for sharing these you want to put them in templates. QAT modifications are easier than Ribbon modifications.

    Much of your formatting decisions should be in a group of Workgroup Templates that have been set up using Themes and [Quick] Style Sets. Shared macros with or without keyboard shortcuts and QAT modifications should be in custom Global Templates. See also Organizing Your Macros by Word MVP Beth Melton.
