Window's Defender Blocking Steam Game

I'm an indie game dev with my first video game on Steam. I used RPG Maker MV to create it, and I'm getting feedback from some players that Windows Defender is IDing it as a "false positive" and deleting files making it unplayable. Malewarebytes was doing the same thing, and I was able to have my "game.exe" file get whitelisted on their end, that way players no longer had that issue.

I know the individual player can go through some easy steps to stop Windows Defender from blocking or deleting my game files, that way they can play... but is there a way I can get my game just whitelisted on Defender altogether? That way players don't have to go through those loopholes to play my game? I can even send my game's URL on Steam (if that's needed) or any files needed. I know Malewarebytes requested the file that was being quarantined be sent to them encrypted and zipped... I can do this, as well.

Thanks!

Yes, you can request Microsoft to review your game and whitelist it in Windows Defender to prevent it from being flagged as a false positive. To do this, you need to submit a sample of your game executable to the Microsoft Malware Protection Center (MMPC) for analysis.

Here are the steps to submit your game for review:

    1. Zip your game executable and upload it to a file-sharing service, such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
    2. Visit the Microsoft Malware Protection Center submission portal at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission.
    3. Fill out the required information, including your name, email address, and a brief description of your game.
    4. Upload the zipped game executable file.
    5. Submit the form.

After submitting the form, you will receive an email confirmation with a unique submission ID. A member of the MMPC team will review your submission and contact you with the results of the analysis. If your game is deemed safe, Microsoft will add it to the whitelist, and it will no longer be flagged as a false positive in Windows Defender.

It is important to note that the review process may take some time, and there is no guarantee that your game will be whitelisted. However, this is the best way to ensure that your game is not blocked by Windows Defender, and it will help to provide a better experience for your players.
