Model (Bim files) repointing from Gen1 datalake in AAS to Gen2 datalake

Hi,

I have around 30 models in AAS which are currently pointing to Gen1 datalake.

I would like to repoint them to Gen2 datalake with minimum efforts.

Is there any utility for the same?

Unfortunately, there is no such utility to achieve your requirement. The available options are :

Manually update the connection strings, data source references, data source credentials in your models to point to the Gen2 data lake.

You can use the Azure Analysis Services REST API to programmatically manage your data sources and update the connection strings, data source references, and credentials or you can also use a scripting language such as Python or PowerShell to automate this process.

Isn't possible using AAS Model BISM Normalizer tool ?

Otherwise we can use Azure Data Factory to copy data from your Gen1 datalake to Gen2 datalake.

The process of automating the connection strings can be done with ADF.

If it is possible to use Azure Power Shell you can create a script shell that will update the connection strings of the models to point to the new Gen2 datalake also it is possible

Also Azure CLI provides several commands to move data between datalakes. You can use these commands to copy data from Gen1 datalake to Gen2 datalake and then update the connection string of your models to point to the new datalake.
