MacBook Air 2020

MacOS Ventura 13.2.1

Problem with logging in to M365 Cloud PC

Worked previously on this MacBook

Currently works on a Mac Mini (same MacOS version), Windows 11 PC and via browser with no problem at all.

When I attempt to add the workspace, it asks for my M365 email address twice, then returns this error:

There was an issue looking up your account. Tap Next to try again.

When I close that window I get this error:

Error: MSAL failed to acquire claims token

OneAuthError_UserCancelled (7): User canceled sign in.

InternalErrorCode: 3402

Tag: 7mn1d

What I have tried:
Deleting the application and downloading and reinstalling
Removing from Keychain Access any items with "rdc" or "microsoft" or "wvd"

If you have the definitive list of how to clean up everything to do with Microsoft Remote Desktop on MacOS it would be appreciated.

    Hi,

I'd be happy to help you out with your question. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

While attempting to add the workspace and it asks for your M365 email address twice, then returns an error saying "There was an issue looking up your account. Tap Next to try again," there may be a problem with the account lookup process. It is recommended to check that you have entered your email address correctly and that you are connected to the internet.

The error you're getting is related to MSAL (Microsoft Authentication Library), which is used for authentication purposes. To fix this issue, you can try signing in again and making sure that you do not cancel the sign-in flow.

To clean up everything related to Microsoft Remote Desktop on macOS:

    1. Uninstall the Remote Desktop client: You can use a third-party uninstaller like CleanMyMacX or AppCleaner to remove all files associated with the Remote Desktop client.
    2. Clear the cache: If you are experiencing issues with Remote Desktop, you can try clearing the cache by deleting the contents of ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.rdc.mac.
    3. Check RDP protocol status: If you are having trouble connecting to a remote computer, you can check the status of the RDP protocol on that computer by going to Start menu > Run > Registry Editor > File > Connect Network Registry.
    4. Troubleshoot disconnected errors: If you are experiencing disconnected errors while using Remote Desktop, you can refer to Microsoft's troubleshooting guide for solutions I added below.

By following these steps, you should be able to clean up everything related to Microsoft Remote Desktop on macOS and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
