Is Storage Migration Service supposed to migrate NTFS inheritance settings?
I'm testing out Storage Migration Service to transfer files from a Windows Server 2016 install to a Windows Server 2022 install. Inventory and Transfer completed fine; I did not do the Cutover in this test environment. I used the destination server as the Orchestrator. When checking the NTFS permissions on the destination system (using icacls and Explorer) I noticed that while the actual ACL is correct, the inheritance setting is different - on the source I had turned off inheritance, but on the destination for three of the four principals inheritance was set on.
Is this expected behavior? Any solutions?
thanks
