Hi,

I am new to SCCM.

May I ask what is the relationship between settings in Scheduling Tab of a Software Update Group with "Maintenance Window" ?

Maintenance Window is set up to be last Saturday in each month between 1:00am and 5:00am.

Scheduling Setting -
Software Available Time - Last Friday at 9:45pm
Installation Deadline - Last Friday at 9:45pm

Thanks

    Hi @TonyJK ,

    Thanks for your feedback.

--> If two tabs of following screenshot is unchecked, the update could be installed on next Friday between 1:00am and 5:00am in the next Maintenance Window. It means that the update is installed and the client is restarted only between Maintenance Window.

-->If the tab of software update installation is checked, the update could be installed as soon as the deadline reached(as mentioned Saturday 1:00am), and the client will be restarted between Maintenance Window which we could modify. As we mentioned, some update must be restarted after being installed, so the Restarting of Server could not be suppressed, just modified.

-->If the tab of system restart (if necessary) is checked, the update could be installed on next Friday between 1:00am and 5:00am in the next Maintenance Window, the client could be restarted once the update installed.

    Hi TonyJK-1323,

-->Relationship between settings in Scheduling Tab and "Maintenance Window"
If the client has maintenance window, the update will be installed in the period of maintenance window, not taking into account the setting of deadline. For example, as we have provided, This condition of randomness is not considered, the client could be received the policy after last Friday at 9:45pm, and this condition of the installation outside the maintenance window is not considered, the update could be installed within last Saturday between 1:00am and 5:00am.

Only we deploy updates as Required, the tab of installation deadline is available.

Software available time--as the picture shows, once the specified time is reached, the client receives the policy from the MP, performs the scanning, and downloads the update.

Installation deadline--as the picture shows, once the deadline is reached, the update is installed on the device and the device is restarted if necessary.
