Add externals dlls to Maui project through common class library

Hi,

I have 4 projects:

1.Client maui.

2.Shared class library.

3.Worker service.

4.Test project

All projects have project reference to Shared project.

I have created folder in Shared project.

and imported all files as reference see sniped code:

Why the test project do reported on missing assembly while MAUI and worker service do not complian?

Is it the right way to share the dlls?

I also imported the files from test project to solve the problem is the way ?

In other threads, you said your project is based on .NET6. I created a MAUI project, a Shared class library, a Worker service, a MSTest Test project, they are based on .NET6, then add the dlls in MAUI project. The MAUI project runs normally, I cannot reproduce your issue.

For further investigation, several questions need to be determined:

How did you create the test project? Is it a MSTest Test project? Does this project only target Windows platform？

From this line <HintPath>..\AutomationClient.Shared\ComponentPro_Net2_0\ComponentPro.Ftp.dll</HintPath>, it looks based on .net2, could you update to .net6?

You set <Private>True</Private>, could you remove this to check if there are any differences?

Would you mind sharing the detailed error messages?

All projects have project reference to Shared project. Do I need to create a shared project, then add it to a MAUI project? Could you describe the detailed reproducible steps?

I have four!!! Projects.One of them is class library that add reference to dll. Moreover I have 3 more projects : maui,test project ms test and worker service. All these projects have project reference to the class library. Everything complied except the test project that shout that has no dlls.

Everything complied except the test project that shout that has no dlls.

What's the Shared project mean? Your main problem is the shared project cannot add the test project reference, right?

Since I still cannot reproduce your issue. it will be easier to help you if you provide the detailed steps and environment information. Thanks for your understanding.

You cannot add the class library reference(dll) to a MSTest test project, right? Do they target for Windows?

The test project has project reference to shared class library.but the test project doesn't recognize the dll. It recognize it only when I add reference directly to the dll. Why ? Why project reference not enough,?

I have 4 projects:

1.Maui named Client .

2.Class library name Shared.

3.Worker service name Service

4.Test project of type MS Test name Test.

All projects have project reference to Shared project.

I have created folder named ComponentPro_Net2_0 within the Shared project and put the dll inside.

6.In Shared project/dependencies I browse to this dll located in ComponentPro_Net2_0 folder and add

reference to this dll and set the copy local to true.

Later I complied the solution Everything OK.

When I consume this dll in Client && Service everything OK.

9.But when I tried to consume this dll from Test project the complier said missing dll,

is it a bug ?

First is working.

Second I have not used NuGet packages in this case in share project.

I have client A has project reference to Shared

<ItemGroup> <ProjectReference Include="..\AutomationClient.Shared\AutomationClient.Shared.csproj" /> </ItemGroup

and Shared folder has project reference to AutomationClient.API

<ItemGroup> <ProjectReference Include="..\AutomationClient.API\AutomationClient.API.csproj" /> </ItemGroup>

and service worker has two reference types AutomationClient.API & Shared

<ItemGroup> <ProjectReference Include="..\AutomationClient.API\AutomationClient.API.csproj" /> <ProjectReference Include="..\AutomationClient.Shared\AutomationClient.Shared.csproj" /> </ItemGroup>

If i put the dlls in client A or service worker the dlls will be duplicated.

Any solution ?

Moreover I consume this dlls in Client MAUI A i reach to dlls through helper class in Shared project.

In worker service directly and helper class in Shared project.

On my side, using helper class in Shared project, I can consume the dll file in Test project and other projects. I still fail to reproduce your issue. Is this issue reproducible on your side with four newly created projects?

Besides, did you try to add using XXXXX in Test project?

In test project i used using XXXXX

since i used reference to shared folder.

I fixed my statements:

Client MAUI A and worker service reach to dlls through helper classes in Shared project.

Now it sound better is it better way?

Hi @דני שטרית,

Typically, package reference should work. Directly adding reference to the dll is also a workaround to make it work. It’s not a better or worse method, it’s a normal way, and you can add like that.
