Hi,
Based on my experience, disconnect CSV from existing cluster and connect to new cluster and import VMs is the more efficient approach.

Hello Folks - We're going to be migrating our 3 host Server 2016 cluster to a 2 host Server 2022 cluster. From my research it appears the recommended way to relocate VMs into the new cluster is to remove VMs from cluster and use the Move option in Hyper-V Manager and add them into new cluster. I have to turn off the VMs which is ok when doing that since the CPU's between the clusters are different. I've tested it and its works and will be a bit scary to do this on some file servers with 3TB volumes but it seems to be the safest option.
One other idea I've read is turning off VMs , removing from existing cluster, disconnect CSV from existing cluster and connect to new cluster and import VMs. I've done this in testing and it worked fine also but I'm wanting to check if this is considered an acceptable way to migrate the VMs from an existing cluster? One reason I feel I need to do this is because our DR software has about 10TB of pre-seeded disk on those CSV's and "reusing" them would prevent me from having to send that data over a 100MB network connection.
Thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated!
