Limit the scope of Scan Power BI

Hello,

We have workspaces in Power BI that contain n number of reports and we do not want to include them when scanning our Power BI tenant in Purview.

Is there any way we can exclude them from the scan? Either via workspace or reports name? What would be the recommended approach if we want to filter them out in the catalog?

I am aware there is an option to exclude personal workspaces but these are not personal.

Exclude reports: If you want to exclude specific reports from the scan, you can use the "Exclude by name" option in the scan settings. This option allows you to specify a list of report names or patterns to exclude from the scan.

Use custom classification: If you want to filter out specific reports based on their content or metadata, you can use custom classification rules in Purview. Custom classification rules allow you to define conditions that must be met for a report to be included in the catalog. For example, you can define a rule that excludes reports that contain sensitive data or that have a specific tag.

Use tags: You can also use tags to filter out specific reports from the catalog. In Power BI, you can add tags to reports to indicate their content or purpose. In Purview, you can use these tags to filter out reports that do not meet your criteria.

@ShaikMaheer-MSFT I can't see exclude by option to exclude reports or workspace.

would you be able to share screenshot for the same.

All I am looking for is to limit the scope of scan for Power BI source suppose we have 7000 reports, I obviously don't want to scan all the reports so it there a way to ignore the reports not needed?

Or if I have 10 workspace, in each we have 1500 approx reports then is there a way to skip desired workspace during scan? Please confirm

We are also looking for ways to include certain workspaces. Our scan does the entire tenant and includes PBI reports from other BUs that we want to exclude.

Any update @ShaikMaheer-MSFT ? The automated scan of Power BI is of limited value if you can't scope the scan to align to an organization's collection structure in Purview. Would you recommend that we add our Power BI assets manually using the PyApacheAtlas interface instead?
