Hello

On new outlook 1.2023.526.100 - the "move to folder" option is not available on the ribbon for an Open Email (aka pop-out email).

Whereas this feature is available under Classic Outlook.

This therefore requires additional effort to close email, go back to the inbox / sent / or other email views, and then do move from either ribbon,

or through the added quick action.

It would be great if this feature is added to New Outlook.

many thanks

Martin

    Hi @Martin Cockshott ,

Yes, as you noticed, currently the "Move to folder" option is not available in an open email (pop-out email), so you may have to switch back to the classic Outlook or use the workarounds you mentioned above at present.

Given this, I just tried submitting it via the Help > Feedback button within Outlook. You can submit it from your end as well if possible. Hopefully this feature can be added in the near future.

Meanwhile, below is another tip about moving an email to another folder. You can probably have a go and see if it can do a little help in current situation:

Instead of closing the pop-out mail, you can just click on the main Outlook window, locate the mail in the message list, and then drag and drop the mail to the target folder.

I agree - not having the move option in a pop out email is extreamly inconvenient, especially for those of us who receive a vast amount of emails each day and use sub folders for organization purposes. Would also be helpful to be able to view "Unread" emails (search folder) by folder location as was an option in old outlook.

I was just forced to use "New" Outlook and am stunned they would even consider offering an "update" with such an obvious loss of functionality. Does anyone at Microsoft actually use email? Unbelievable.

Unfortunately, this is still an issue with new Outlook Version 1.2024.612.100 / Client Version 202406140008.10, how annoying! When you get a notification of a new email on your desktop and you click it, the pop-out / pop-up window with that email still does not have "Move to" as an option in either the menu ribbon or the action icons to the right of the email header. Microsoft needs to fix this so those of us that read emails by clicking on the desktop notification, then want to file them away, like we used to in "classic" Outlook.
