I need some guidance on how best to move a client to complete azure online authentication. currently we have a mix of on prem AD authentication / local accounts on local computers and MSFT 365 for email / sharepoint and file sharing. what is the best way to get all of this under the azure / 365 authentication umbrella without causing too much disruption?

For local accounts, you could create a Cloud-based AAD account with Device Administrator rights, and AAD join the machines for on-prem authentication if you haven't already, you can sync your identities up to AAD.
