Hi @Deronn White1
The reason why SharePoint shared links can be opened in the OneNote Web version, but not in the OneNote Desktop version may be that the links are handled differently.
OneNote for Web uses a built-in browser engine to handle links, and usually defaults to the latest browser engine (for example, Microsoft Edge). This means it better supports modern web technologies and the latest security protocols.
In contrast, OneNote Desktop versions may use an older browser engine (for example, Internet Explorer), which may not support some modern web technologies or security protocols. As a result, when trying to open shared links from SharePoint, you may experience issues with either the link not opening properly or a broken attachment indicator.
In order to solve this problem, you can try the following steps:
Make sure your version of OneNote Desktop is up to date to ensure it has the latest fixes and improvements.
Make sure your operating system and browser are up to date. Sometimes, older versions of operating systems or browsers can cause OneNote Desktop versions to not handle certain links correctly.
Try to manually copy the share link from SharePoint, and use the "Insert Link" function in OneNote Desktop version to paste the link into the OneNote page. This may bypass some automatic processing issues and allow links to open correctly.
