Hi,

I have configured macOS policies to enable FileVault and a password policy. Both have applied fine to my Macs, however when a user restarts their Mac they are prompted twice with a log in. One for FileVault and one for the password policy. If I change my password it changes both password for FileVault and the password policy. I am struggling to find a way to avoid the double password prompt without disabling one of the policies. Has anyone else had this issue?

    @user-unknown Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

    FileVault encrypts your entire disk, including the operating system. This issue here may be that these credentials are not being passed to the OS, so the system will first ask for your username and password to unlock the disk, and then do so again to log into the system.

    Given this situation, it is needed to check some logs based on this device to find why the credential is not passed to the OS. With Q&A limitation, it is suggested to create an online support ticket to get more help. Here is the support link;

    So the double password prompt occurs because I have an expiry set on the password policy. The user gets the FileVault password as expected and the user password prompt shows the user how many days are left before it expires. If you leave the expiry field blank, it will not expiry and there will be no need for the second password prompt.
