Hello,

Could you please help me in finding answers for following questions ?

  1. Does Azure advisor consider all workload to be running 247 for generating recommendations? If there is a workload on Azure VMs which is heavily used 125 (12 hours each workday) and VMs are shut down remaining time each day - Will Azure Advisor calculate AVG CPU and memory usage incorrectly by considering zero utilization during non-working hours for workload in question?
  2. Is it possible to access raw data such as per (few) minute/seconds CPU. memory usage for Azure VMs based on which it has generated right sizing recommendations? Preferably without API requests but through Azure Portal.
  3. Is it possible to categorize the workloads into different categories such as 247, 127 or 12*5 and pass this info to Azure Advisor for more accurate recommendations?
  4. Does Azure Advisor suggests to use Ultra SSD when it notices Premium SSD have been created for to meet requirement of network throughput, not capacity?

Sorry for too many questions.

Applicate your Response. Thank you!!

    Hi @anil kumar

      • Azure Advisor does not assume that workloads are running 24/7 when generating recommendations. It uses machine learning algorithms to analyze your usage patterns and workload requirements over time. However, if your workload has significant variations in usage patterns, such as the example you provided with heavy usage during working hours and no usage during non-working hours, this may affect the accuracy of the recommendations. In this case, you may need to adjust the recommendations based on your specific workload requirements.
    2. Is it possible to access raw data such as per (few) minute/seconds CPU. memory usage for Azure VMs based on which it has generated right sizing recommendations? Preferably without API requests but through Azure Portal.
      • Yes, you can access raw data such as CPU and memory usage for Azure VMs through the Azure portal. You can use Azure Monitor to collect and analyze performance data for your VMs. Azure Monitor provides a variety of metrics and logs that you can use to monitor and troubleshoot your VMs. You can view this data in the Azure portal or export it to other tools for analysis.
    3. Is it possible to categorize the workloads into different categories such as 247, 127 or 12*5 and pass this info to Azure Advisor for more accurate recommendations?
      • Azure Advisor does not currently support categorizing workloads into different categories such as 24/7, 12/7, etc. However, you can provide feedback to Microsoft about this feature request through the Azure feedback forum.
    4. Does Azure Advisor suggests to use Ultra SSD when it notices Premium SSD have been created for to meet requirement of network throughput, not capacity?
      • Azure Advisor may suggest using Ultra SSDs if it detects that your workload requires high network throughput but does not require high capacity. However, the specific recommendations will depend on your workload requirements and usage patterns. You should evaluate the recommendations carefully and consider your specific workload requirements before making any changes.
