Folder permissions

Hi All

I have setup DFS and i have given the below permissions on a folder. with the below permissions i am able to modify text file i.e add/modify data to the text file but i am unable to add/modify data on excel files i am getting access is denied error. please guide me

    if i give modify permission it works but i dont users to delete the file,user can add/remove/edit the contents of the file but not delete the file
