I am working on assessments and I have added the Azure SQL migration extension in Azure Data Studio(VM don't have internet connectivity) for assessments recommendations but I am getting the below error, can you please help me

I understand that you're having trouble with the Azure SQL migration extension in Azure Data Studio. Specifically, you're getting an error message that says "Failed to start Sql Migration Service: Error: Request error."
Do you have a machine that has both internet access and can allow SQL connectivity to the instance? Azure SQL Migration extension does not need to be run from the SQL machine. It can be run remotely.it appears to me that the version check is failing.
Can you please share the steps you followed and a screenshot

Thanks for your reply, I have installed the Azure Data studio on a different machine. We have connectivity from Assessment server to Database server and i can connect to he SQL server using Azure Data studio but i don't have internet connectivity on assessment server.
I have followed the below steps
1.downloaed the azure data studio on different machine and copied to VM and installed the Azure data studio on new VM
I can able to see the extension but not working.
May i know what is version checking ,please
Hi @Sanjeev Reddy I mean if you have the latest version of ADS: Download and install Azure Data Studio - Azure Data Studio | Microsoft Learn
can you also check if you have signed into your Azure account successfully and access from your machine to this link: Sign in to Microsoft Open Source (github.com)
if not please make sure your network allows you to reach the GitHub link to install the extension successfully.

Hi Geetha,
I have downloaded the latest ADS only and I don't have internet connectivity on VM so, i have downloaded another VM and copied it to Assessment VM.
Do we require the internet connectivity on Assessment server for assessments
is there anything need to download from Sign in to Microsoft Open Source (github.com)

@Sanjeev Reddy Is it possible to share the logs from /User/AppData/Roaming/azuredatastudio/logs/[dateTtimestamp]/exthost1/Microsoft.mssql/SqlAssessmentLogs"
You can run PS/CLI to try the assessment to verify if it can connect to the source without the internet.

I can connect to connect SQL server from Azure Data studio.
Regarding logs, the logs not generated in specific folder(/User/AppData/Roaming/azuredatastudio/logs/[dateTtimestamp]/exthost1/Microsoft.mssql/)
