We have an express route circuit with a standard sku; when the ER circuit was created, we had multiple regions; presently we only have one region, Location: Southeast Asia, with a peering location: Singapore; is it possible to convert the ER circuit from standard to local SKU with unlimited billing? Could you please provide a link to where I may get more about it? Thanks Veera.

I understand that you would like to know how to downgrade your expressRoute circuit from Standard_unlimited to Local. I am afraid this is not feasible as of now. Circuit SKU Allowed upgrade and downgrade workflows are: Upgrade from Standard to Premium SKU. Upgrade from Local to Standard or Premium SKU. Can only be done using Azure CLI or Azure PowerShell. I understand that you would like to know how to downgrade your expressRoute circuit from Standard_unlimited to Local.

I am afraid this is not feasible as of now.

Circuit SKU Allowed upgrade and downgrade workflows are:

Hi KapilAanad,

Good day.

Could you kindly guide me with a document or a website that shows the details of deprovisioning and deleting this Circuit and creating a new one with the Local SKU? How is this possible with so little downtime? since we have a large number of production applications running on both Azure and on-premises.

Sure.

Deprovisioning a Circuit : https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/expressroute/expressroute-howto-circuit-portal-resource-manager#delete

This should be done by your service provider

Make sure you have unlinked all virtual networks from the ExpressRoute circuit before deprovisioning

Then you can delete the Circuit like any other resource from the Portal

Create a New Circuit : https://video2.skills-academy.com/en-us/azure/expressroute/expressroute-howto-circuit-portal-resource-manager#create-a-new-expressroute-circuit

Make sure that you specify the correct SKU tier (Local, Standard, or Premium) and data metering billing model (Unlimited or Metered).

After creating, the status will be
Provider status: Not provisioned
Circuit status: Enabled

After creating, Send the service key to your connectivity provider for provisioning

Refer : ExpressRoute partner circuit provisioning states

The circuit changes to the following state when the connectivity provider has enabled it
Provider status: Provisioned
Circuit status: Enabled
