Hello,

I am trying to setup a new laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15ABA7) with "Windows 11 Home 64 Bit" already installed. As I go through the setup process I have to add a Microsoft Account.

With Office we are using "356 Business Standart" and I would like to connect one of our user accounts to the laptop (the user has never before been connected to anything).

The user has the following licences:

Microsoft 356 Business Standart

Microsoft Power Automate Free

Microsoft Teams Exploratory

But, when I enter the correct user adress, Microsoft tells me that the account does not exist (which is not true, as I am currently logged in with this account, whriting this question).

Do I have to enter the Admin account instead first and at a later point the specific user?

Or does "Windows 11 Home" not work with "356 Business Standart user accounts"?

Thanks in advance for your help!

UPDATE: With a private Microsoft Account I could login. But I have to use the Business user.

Whats the solution?

Windows 365 Business
Windows 11
Windows 11
A Microsoft operating system designed for productivity, creativity, and ease of use.

    Hello,

Based on the information you provided, it seems that there might be a specific issue with using a Microsoft 365 Business Standard account to log in to the Windows 11 Home edition on your Lenovo IdeaPad 5.

Here are a few things you can try to resolve the problem:

Verify the Microsoft 365 Business Standard Account: Double-check that the Microsoft 365 Business Standard account you are trying to use is spelled correctly and is associated with the correct email address. Ensure that the account is indeed a Microsoft 365 Business Standard account and not a personal Microsoft account.

Check Licensing and Account Type: Verify that the Microsoft 365 Business Standard license is correctly assigned to the user account you are trying to use on the laptop. Additionally, ensure that the account type is set as a "Work or school account" and not a "Personal account."

Ensure the Account Exists in Azure AD: Microsoft 365 Business accounts are typically managed through Azure Active Directory (Azure AD). Ensure that the user account you are trying to use exists in your organization's Azure AD.

Try a Local Account First: During the Windows 11 setup process, you can choose to set up a local account first instead of using a Microsoft account. Try setting up the laptop with a local account first and then add the Microsoft 365 Business Standard account later from the Windows settings.

Check Windows 11 Home Compatibility: While Microsoft 365 Business Standard accounts should work with Windows 11 Home, there could be specific issues or requirements. Make sure your Windows 11 Home edition is up-to-date with the latest patches and updates from Windows Update.

Contact Microsoft Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can help troubleshoot the problem and provide guidance specific to your situation.

As an alternative, you mentioned that you were able to log in with a private Microsoft account. In some cases, you might consider setting up a Microsoft 365 Business Standard account with a different email address (if possible) and assign the necessary licenses to that account for your user. Then, use the new Microsoft 365 Business Standard account to log in to the laptop.

Remember that Windows 11 is still relatively new, and there may be some compatibility issues that are being addressed through updates and improvements. Always make sure to keep your system up-to-date to benefit from the latest fixes and enhancements.
