Cannot add Fibre CHannel Adapter to Windows Server 2012 VM on Hyper-V SecuritySecurityOptOut

Hi, i am trying to add a Fibre Channel adapter on a windows server 2012 machine running in hyper-v on Windows 11 pro. I am getting the error "Failed to add resources. Cannot modify property. Failed to add resources (Virtual Machine ID xxxxxxx) Cannot modify propertyt without enabling VirtualizationBasedSecurityOptOut.

Just to test, i did try and deactive the security settings i had enabled and the error persisted. I was editing the options in the security section of settings for that particular VM. However obviously preference is to have the security and have the fibre channel. Was not able to find much support for this error online hoping someone can help.

THanks

    Hi @Michael Whitfield

It is possible that the issue is related to the Fibre Channel adapter itself. I suggest checking if the adapter is compatible with Windows Server 2012 and Hyper-V on Windows 11 Pro. Additionally, you can try updating the drivers for the adapter. If the issue persists, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the adapter for further assistance.

    Hope the information is helpful.

    Best Regards,

After powering off the machine, in powershell run

    Set-VMSecurity VMName -VirtualizationBasedSecurityOptOut $true

You should now be able to add the adapter.
