Hi. I am trying to run the Windows Performance Recorder for the Standby/Resume scenario, however, I cannot run it, appearing an error : "Unsupported power transition for On/Off tracing" with the error code "Error Code 0x80050001". I am aware of a similar question in this QA : ( this link ) and tried its solution, which is to disable the "Fast Startup", however the problem was not solved.. I tried with different power plans, with detail level either "light" or "verbose" however it did not solve. Can someone help?

I am trying it in a Windows 11 system

    Hello Arthur,

Thank you for your question and for reaching out with your question today.

I understand that you are encountering the "Unsupported power transition for On/Off tracing" error with error code 0x80050001 when trying to run Windows Performance Recorder for the Standby/Resume scenario on a Windows 11 system, even after disabling Fast Startup. Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. **Run Windows Performance Recorder as Administrator:**
Right-click on the Windows Performance Recorder application and select "Run as administrator." Running it with administrative privileges may help to resolve permission-related issues that can cause this error.

    2. **Check Power Plan Settings:**
Ensure that the power plan you are using has the appropriate settings for Standby/Resume tracing. You can modify the power plan settings by following these steps:
       - Open the Control Panel, go to "Power Options."
       - Click on "Change plan settings" for the current power plan in use.
       - Click on "Change advanced power settings."
       - Expand "Sleep" and "Allow hybrid sleep" and make sure it is set to "Off" for both "On battery" and "Plugged in."

    3. **Disable Hibernation:**
Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following command to disable hibernation:

    powercfg /h off

This will disable hibernation on your system, and it might help with Standby/Resume tracing.

    4. **Check Device Drivers:**
Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, especially those related to power management and system sleep. Outdated or incompatible drivers can sometimes cause power-related issues.

    5. **Run Windows Performance Recorder in Safe Mode:**
Try running the Windows Performance Recorder in Safe Mode. This will help determine if any third-party software or driver is causing the conflict.

    6. **Check for Windows Updates:**
Make sure your Windows 11 system is up to date with the latest updates from Microsoft. Windows updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can resolve various issues.

    7. **Reinstall Windows Performance Toolkit (WPT):**
If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling the Windows Performance Toolkit, which includes Windows Performance Recorder. Uninstall it from the "Apps & Features" settings, then download and reinstall it from the official Microsoft website.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may want to consider reaching out to Microsoft Support or posting in Microsoft's official developer forums for more specialized assistance with Windows Performance Recorder on Windows 11.
