RDP to server at home using Azure Bastion

Hi all

I have a machine at home, connected directly to my router - not domain joined, just a standalone box.

I want to be able to provide someone RDP access to this machine over the Internet, preferably with Azure Bastion.

Can someone point me to a step by step guide on how to do this, or if there is an alternative solution, how to do this please?

Azure Bastion service won't directly provide RDP access to your local/home machine, as it's designed to provide secure RDP/SSH access to Azure VMs only. To connect to your local machine there can be several options

You can set up a VPN on your home network. or you can forward configure ports forwarding at your modem

Ideally, I'd prefer not to forward ports on my router as this is generally considered insecure.

I'm thinking of something along the lines of a VPN between the home machine and Azure, and then my user can RDP to a jump box of some sort, and then RDP out from that box to my home machine. I'd want some form of security in there so that not just anybody can get through each layer, preferably MFA

I can give a simple step-by-step workflow

Create a Virtual Network (Azure)

Create a VPN Gateway (Azure)

Configure your Local Network Gateway (Azure)

Create a Site-to-Site VPN connection (Azure)

in your case, your modem should support site-to-site VPN or you should
a similar device with public ip

to establish a public IP

Create a Windows VM

Enable RDP on your home machine
