Can't Delete Unwanted Message Folder in IMAP Account in New Outlook for Mac

I started setting up "move message rules" at the mail server. But first I had to create the folders in the account in New Outlook for Mac. I created a folder I don't want to use. I tried deleting it, which moved it to the "Deleted Items" folder, but when try to delete the folder from inside the "deleted items" folder, a "1" appears after the folder name and the folder isn't deleted.

I tried "empty folder" when on the "deleted items" folder, which seems to delete the folder contents, but the deleted folder reappears.

What can I do?

What about right clicking the folder you want to delete in the "deleted items" folder and clicking Delete?

Of course I tried that. A screen shot is attached showing the "1s" that appear after right clicking and selecting delete folder. I also tried Empty Contents, which temporarily removes the folders, but they reappear when Outlook syncs.

It's suggested that you could log into web mail and try to delete the folders to check if there're any differences.

I can't use the words I really want to use to express how much your suggestion irritates me. I've already wasted 5 hours changing POP accounts to IMAP and setting up rules and folders on servers with at least 5 more hours to go because Microsoft changed Outlook and reduced features. Now you cavalierly suggest I waste more time doing the testing that Microsoft people should be doing. I'd like my customers to do my work for me...while they have the "privilege" of paying to do it instead of getting paid. I SUGGEST YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE WRITING TO A CUSTOMER BEFORE YOU SEND SUCH A MESSAGE. And I suggest you do the test before you send such a message so that you come to me with a solution instead of asking me to do your work.

Based on my test with IMAP accounts in Outlook for Mac, i can delete the folder successfully:

I also tried Empty Contents, which temporarily removes the folders, but they reappear when Outlook syncs.

Considering that the deleted folders reappear when Outlook syncs, i'm afraid that it's impacted by the synchronization between Outlook for Mac desktop client and your web mail, so i recommend that you could try to delete the folders on web mail.

In addition, if you are using IMAP Yahoo and AOL accounts, i'm afraid that the issue may be related to the below known issue. If it is your case, please try to turn on the New Outlook button. More information: IMAP Yahoo and AOL accounts might experience issues with re-syncing folder content.
