Skype for business accounts show as a teams user

Recently set up Skype for business server 2019 for a small subset of my users base;

We use teams, we don't want to back track any of our 365 settings so i reached out to ur supplier and agreed Skype for Business was the least impactful method,

Set up a new domain on go daddy that is not part of our 365 environment, created unique UPNs for the users on our on prem AD in an OU that doesn't sync with 365, imported them into the server and at no point have these accounts synced with 365.

When i search for them in skype from my personal account they show as teams users so i can't send images which is the biggest reason for wanting to use skype as this function is not supported in interoperability mode.

I am running on an external IP that is natted to my edge box which talks to my single front end server

According to your description, can we understand that you create a new Skype for Business Server and you want Teams users could communicate with those new users in SFB?

No so we were 100% teams. A small set of users want to use Skype so i got a new domain name from Go Daddy. Added the UPN to our existing on prem AD and deployed a stand alone front end server and and edge server.

I created these suers new accounts with the new UPNs, put them in an OU where they don't sync to AAD. Then added them to the SBS on prem.

When i use my personal skype and search for the new users they show as Teams users. I need them to have full skype functionality so they can recieve images from external users over chat (which Teams can't do from non teams users right?)

Thanks for your update. If these new users are created in Skype for Business Server. Teams user generally cannot search them and send any messages.

@JimmyYang-MSFT I'm sorry that is not the issue. So i stood up an on prem skype for business server. The idea is that Skype Personal users can then communicate with these users without the interoperability challenges skype>teams has. So i bought a separate domain name, created users against this domain, blocked this domain and these users from syncing to our 365 tenant (where we have teams).

When a skype personal user searches for my Skype for business account it shows up on the skype for personal user that my skype for business account is a teams account. Therefore has the same restrictions as messaging from Skype to Teams.

I opened a ticket with Microsoft and our vendor about this but they are both struggling with the cause and suggested reaching out on here for assistance.
