Getting 'Azure Media Services is unreachable' for API and console uploads

All API calls and web console attempts to laod video fiels for indexing are getting the 'Azure Media Services is unreachable' error message. But there is no flagged down for the system on the status page. When checking the resource in the Azure console the Status field never finishes completing, whereas for the Image service they are all flagged as Active.
