We are testing out Microsoft Private Access. So far, it's working well. I have one issue. When our laptops are connected to cellular, Private Access will not connect. Is there a setting or registry entry I can change to fix this?

    Hello Neville,

Thank you for reaching out about. I'm glad to hear that it's been working well for you overall. Regarding the issue you're facing with Private Access not connecting when laptops are connected to cellular networks, I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this.

It's important to note that Microsoft Private Access (now known as Microsoft Entra Private Access) is designed to establish secure connections over the internet, regardless of the network type. However, there could be a few factors causing the connectivity issue you're encountering.

To troubleshoot this issue, I suggest the following steps:

    1. Review Cellular Data Settings: Ensure that cellular data usage is enabled on your laptops without any imposed restrictions. Access these settings through the network or cellular data section of your laptop's operating system.
    2. Consider Firewall and Security Software: Sometimes, third-party firewall or security software can hinder the functioning of specific applications. Confirm that Microsoft Entra Private Access is permitted by these programs. You might need to configure exceptions or rules.
    3. Evaluate Proxy or VPN Configuration: Any configured proxy or VPN settings might be influencing the connection to Microsoft Entra Private Access. Temporarily disable such settings to check if the issue persists.
    4. Inspect Private Access Client Settings: Verify the accuracy of your Private Access client settings on the laptops. There could be settings related to network types that require adjustment.
    5. Assess Network Strength: Cellular connections might exhibit weaker signals compared to Wi-Fi, affecting service connectivity. Ensure that your cellular signal strength is stable.
    6. Update Applications: Confirm that both your operating system and the Private Access application are up to date. Software updates frequently include bug fixes and enhancements that might address connectivity challenges.

It's prudent to document any modifications you make and their outcomes, which will be valuable when communicating with support to resolve the concern. I trust these steps will assist you in identifying and rectifying the issue. For further guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out.

If you found this response helpful, please acknowledge it to help others too.

    Best of luck
