Hello @Anthony Compton Thank you for reaching out to us on Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to assist!

I understand that you have freshly installed Microsoft Azure Backup Server on Windows Server 2016 and trying to perform item level recovery of Hyper-V VMs. However, it is erroring out due to BitLocker encryption.

Microsoft Azure Backup Server (MABS) cannot perform item-level recovery of virtual machines (VMs) that have BitLocker enabled. This is because BitLocker encrypts the data on the VM's disks, and MABS cannot access the data without the BitLocker recovery key.

If you need to perform item-level recovery of a VM with BitLocker enabled, you will need to first disable BitLocker on the VM, perform the item-level recovery using MABS, and then re-enable BitLocker on the VM.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions!
