I registered to Azure AD Premium P2 edition (trial).
I am struggling to find a way to remove this license and revert back to Free. Could you help with some guidelines?

Do you know why the remove button is gray?

If you are using personal account:

    • Log into Azure using your personal login (assumed non-business)
    • From your profile (top right), select the tenant you want to remove
    • Open Azure Active Directory
    • Click Users, + New User
    • Name it ie "admin" and copy the @ bit ie into notepad
    • Tick the "show password" box and copy it into notepad
    • Create the user
    • Select the user
    • Click Assigned Roles + Add Assignment
    • Add Global Administrator
    • Go to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=842054
    • Log in as the admin user from steps 5 and 6 above
    • Under Billing, Licenses, click Azure Active Directory Premium P2
    • Click the small blue link just below the page title "Manage subscription details"
    • Click Cancel Subscription
    • Provide feedback by all means in the box that pops up.

    Hi Tushar,

Many thanks for your support, I managed to delete the P2 license per your guidelines.
It looks like that the (trial) license would have expired by default and not been extended.

I would appreciate if you could explain the reasoning behind it:

    • Why do I need to login to Microsoft 365 admin center for this procedure?
    • Is there a way to delete the P2 license directly from Azure console?
Afterall, I created the P2 license in the Azure console.
    • Why cannot I register to Microsoft 365 using my private Gmail email (used to create the Azure account)?
Why must I create an admin user for that?

    User's image

    Best regards !
