during daily local backups i get 3 SRMSVC errors with event id 8228 when trying to access the EFI System partition. The backup reports that it completed ok though. However at least one running application loses something it needs and drops user connections at that time, i am assuming that something is locked or delayed while the file server resource manager is timing out trying to access that partition.

first of all, do i really need that fsrm at all?? this is a simple personal server for file sharing, backups, web server and a few other ham radio related applications so it doesn't sound like i need the fsrm and if it is causing other problems can i just turn it off. if turning it off is ok how do i do it??

if turning off the fsrm isn't helpful can i tell it to not try to access the efi system partition?? i don't see why it would need to do anything with that partition even if it was working.

FSRM is a useful tool for managing file resources, but it may not be necessary for a personal file server. If you want to turn off FSRM, you can do so by stopping the SRMSVC service and disabling it. However, disabling FSRM will also disable real-time file classification. If you want to prevent FSRM from creating a change journal on specific volumes, you can follow the steps outlined in the FSRM overview document. As for the SRMSVC errors you are encountering, it is possible that FSRM is causing the issue. You may want to try disabling FSRM temporarily to see if it resolves the issue. If not, you can try troubleshooting the issue further by looking for event logs generated by FSRM.
