face API service access
Our research team has recently applied for access to the Face API service for our academic project. We submitted our application to limacctr@microsoft.com a few weeks ago and are eager to know the status of our request.
Thank you!

2023-09-25T13:34:48.3166667+00:00 @Wang, Du As per the documentation, you will have to submit a form to the service team for access. The access is based on the details you submit in the form and is evaluated based on the criteria set by Responsible AI principles.
As per the face API quickstart page:
Face service access is limited based on eligibility and usage criteria in order to support our Responsible AI principles. Face service is only available to Microsoft managed customers and partners. Use the Face Recognition intake form to apply for access. For more information, see the Face limited access page.

2023-09-25T13:44:06.77+00:00 @romungi-MSFT Hello, I went through the Face Recognition intake form and found that we are not required to fill out the form for academic research and should email limacctr@microsoft.com instead.

2023-09-26T11:31:10.25+00:00 @Wang, Du Thanks for pointing that out. I was not aware that academic access requests are taken directly through email.
Since this is a access request users on this forum would not be able to help as this is directly taken up by the product group, you can write back to the email id to check if your request is being processed. Thanks!!

2023-09-26T14:19:17.79+00:00 @romungi-MSFT Thank you! We submitted our requirements a month ago but haven't received any communication, not even a confirmation. Could you suggest alternative ways to get in touch with the team?

2023-09-28T13:55:18.53+00:00 @Wang, Du I understand your concern. Did you mention all the details as per the form in your email too? That is, the subscription details to which you are requesting access? You can also submit the form just in case for tracking the request along with the email.

2023-10-05T14:45:53.2566667+00:00 Hello @romungi-MSFT,
Thank you for your assistance; I have successfully gained access. However, I have an additional question regarding the details in the approval email I received. It states that our application is approved for the use case: [Video Indexer] Facial Identification, specifically for searching faces within video archives for media and entertainment purposes, and generating corresponding metadata.
Our study primarily intends to use Microsoft’s Face API to compare de-faced images with original face images. Could you please clarify if our granted access also extends to both videos and images?

2023-10-10T06:35:16.17+00:00 @Wang, Du Sorry for the delay, Since this is a sensitive issue it would be appropriate if you can check or write to the contact mentioned in the email for clarification. Thanks!!
P.S: I am not part of the face API team.
