Multi-Distributed File Servers folder management and restructurization procedure

Can you give me some more info about the changes you made to the DFS folder structure?

I have 6DFS file servers on-premise each running as a Windows Server 2016 Virtual Machine and the size is quite big 6 TB - 7 TB each.

If I make changes like:

  1. Editing the ACL to remove direct user assignment and then replacing it with the Domain Local AD Security group.
  2. Moving around the directories to flatten the structures.
  3. Deleting unused folders and files.

In order to avoid affecting users and potentially losing data, how should the modifications and restructurings be performed?

Do I make changes on single DFS File servers and then wait or force the replication to happen? Or do I have to do the same process on each of the DFS file servers?

I'm a little confused, and any help you can give me would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.
