Azure stack HCI related question

Hi All,

Hope you are well.

I have a question related to Azure stack HCI OS.

I have set up the Azure stack HCI cluster with 3 nodes and integrated it with Azure.

I see the option to create a new VM from the Azure portal but many of the features are missing there(Could not set the VNIC IP,boot diagnostics,serial console etc..)

How to manage those Azure stack HCI OS VMs from the Azure portal?

Hi,

The feature you are referring to is Azure Arc VM management. The information in the link takes you through all of the prerequisites and setup needed.

However, I would strongly encourage you to join us at Microsoft Ignite to learn about the new and exciting updates coming to this feature before deploying it into your test environment. Joining as a virtual attendee is free.

We have followed the same link which you provided above.

Question-

In general,when we create a new VMs under Azure portal directly,we see lot of options left side(Boot diag,serial console,alerts etc..)

However,when we create a new VM under Azure stack HCI cluster on Azure portal,we see limited options for VM.

is this expected baviour?

Hi,

Yes, this is expected behavior. While the VMs are deployed via the Azure portal, they actually live on the Azure Stack HCI cluster. The Azure Arc Resource Bridge and control plane is responsible for redirecting or reflecting any changes between the VM and the Azure portal, but this process is not exactly a 1-to-1 feature parity. Hence why you see differences.

As noted above, there are some exciting changes coming to this feature, so I would encourage you to join us and learn about what's coming for Arc VM Management!
