Can you describe what they were going through when their connections disappeared? Have they reviewed the Troubleshooting Guide?
I assume you are already using a very old version of Storage Explorer (well over a year). As per our service policy, this version is no longer supported, so I would highly suggest making sure they are up-to-date.
Connection data is stored in two separate locations: non-sensitive data (the connection ID and display name) is saved in local storage. The user can see this information by pressing F12, selecting the Application tab, expanding Local Storage > file://, and looking for entries starting with "StorageExplorer_CustomConnections".
The sensitive data (connection info) is saved in the OS's credential manager. The user will need to search for "StorageExplorer_CustomConnections" passwords to find this data. If so, the user can reconstruct the SAS URL using the "connection.serviceEndpoint" and "connection.credentials[].sasToken" properties.
