Hello Team.

I have a question about the compliance that SCCM does.

I have a client with Windows 10 build 1903. We are upgrading to 1909.

When I am looking for the upgrade in the catalog, the upgrade is not required by that 1903 computer.

Why is it not required if the machine has a minor build? However, if I am looking for the upgrade to build 2004, it is required.

Thank you and I hope you can clarify the doubt.

Not all features in a feature update will be available on all devices. Similarly, a device may not be able to receive updates if the device hardware is incompatible, lacks current drivers, lacks sufficient storage space, or is otherwise outside the original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) support period.
Update availability may vary by country, region, network connectivity, mobile operator (e.g., for cellular-capable devices), or hardware capabilities (including, e.g., free disk space).

    @Rafael Aguilar
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.
Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909 share a common core operating system with an identical set of system files. Therefore, the new features in Windows 10, version 1909 were included in the latest monthly quality update for Windows 10, version 1903 (released October 8, 2019), but are in an inactive and dormant state. These new features will remain dormant until they are turned on through the “enablement package,” a small, quick-to-install “master switch” that activates the Windows 10, version 1909 features.
So you may find a feature update named as follows and it should be required for 1903 computer:
Feature update to windows 10 version 1909 x64-based systems 2019-11 via enablement package

For more details about the Enablement Package:

    Good morning.

    Thank you for responding.

Check this patch (Feature Update to Windows 10 Version 1909 x64-based systems 2019-11 via Enablement Package). on 1903 equipment and not all require it. The cumulative installation of Oct 2019 is installed (I guess that's why).
The question is: why do some machines require it and others do not? I even have a 1803 machine and it does not require the update. (Feature Update to Windows 10 Version 1909 x64-based systems 2019-11 via Enablement Package).

    Regards..

As @AllenLiu-MSFT pointed out, the 1909 enablement package is only applicable to systems running Win 10 1903 so the compliance for this update on all non-1903 systems will always be not required. To update non-1903 systems, you need to apply the full 1909 feature update (assuming that's your target).

    Hi.

I understand perfectly for the 1903 workstations, but what about the 1809, 1803 or lower devices that do not require the update?

    36719-image.png

Here I attach this image, these are workstations with the same operating system and same build, some require 1909 and others have a max build for 1903 as shown in yellow in a couple of computers?
Why this happens, should not require the same upgrade?
