We made a small change to one of the configurations files (basic description change) and now this error without any explanation:

Failed. Operation failed, exception: Failed to set up repository configuration during publish..

How to debug and fix this?

I have also been running into the same error since yesterday, even with previously worked packages.

In the meantime, I created a support request with the Partner Center team. They confirmed there was a backend issue that was fixed today. In my environment, it started to work again and the same package successfully passed the automated validation step.
