How can I dissect express route cost to several teams utilizing it for their resources on Azure - CSP tenant?

Hi,

I want to dissect the express route cost in Azure - CSP tenant among various teams or cloud resources using it.

To explain more, in my environment I have an express-route circuit, it is used by various teams/cloud resources which may reside in:

Different subscriptions to that of express-route

Different Resource Groups but within the express-route subscription

Or may be clubbed together within the same resource group, like AVD resources (but used among various teams).

I am currently using Cost management on PowerBI, and looking forward to your assistance ti solution this cost dissection approach.

You are welcome.

The Standby cost completely belongs to the subscription where the Gateway or Circuit is created.

However, I am afraid Bandwidth cost becomes tricky, especially because bandwidth cost of VMs include both internet and private traffic and hence, there is no out of the box solution

One way is to make use of tags for specific environment and group bandwidth cost by this tag.

This may not be very useful for scenarios where the VM generates a lot of traffic for Internet or other destinations that will not use ExpressRoute.

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & I hope you are doing well.

I understand that you would like to split billing based on different users/environments.

I am afraid this wont be feasible.

ExpressRoute is charged on two basis :

Standby cost

Bandwidth cost

Azure ExpressRoute Circuit does not have visibility on what resource would use the Circuit bandwidth and hence, we cannot use any such filters for generating the Bandwidth cost.
