DDoS my own webapp

I am currently having a semester at my college about cloud solutions. My project group are developing a cloud application in Azure. We also want to test different DDoS protections. To make this test work we have to DDoS our own webapp. Before we do that we are of course using the resources of microsoft. Are we allowed to DDoS our own webapp or are we not allowed to do that?

I see JimmySalian-2011 has shared the methods and best practices to implement a DDOS Testing.

Make sure you have DDOS enabled, and the Public IP is covered in the DDOS plan.

Hi Senna,

Well it is not advised to run against the Production environment however there are Microsoft Environments that you can test out the DDOS testing and detailed information is in this article that will assist you.

I would like to point out that Jimmy's link for DDoS testing is a great link, however it may require DDoS protection to be enabled, and if you enable DDoS protection it not only defeats the purpose of your class project, but it will cost a lot (i.e. hundreds of $$).

"BreakingPoint Cloud is a self-service traffic generator where you can generate traffic against DDoS Protection-enabled public endpoints for simulations."

I would suggest not running DDoS tests in Azure because if Microsoft finds that your tests involve known malicious software (even if it's uses for legitimate testing) they can/will disable your Azure tenant.
