I have migrated an app from UWP to WinUI 3 and VS no longer generates the .appxupload file. It generates a .msix file. If I upload myapp_x64.msix, I get the following error:

So, I followed the official instructions to create the app package upload file manually: zip myapp_x64.msix and renamed the zip file to myapp_x64_bundle.appxupload, then uploaded it to the Partner Center. This time, the Partner Center did not reject it immediately and started validating it. It rejected about half a minute later with the following error:

Could anyone offer a tip on how to fix this?

BTW, I validated the package and it passed before I uploaded the package.

@Roy Li I created the ticket three days ago following your suggestion and have just received their solution that is asking my question here:

Again, the app passed the validation by Windows App Certification Kit.

I'm sorry to say that our forum support can't offer more help about this. I'd suggest you keep in contact with the Steam via the ticket. Based on the response you got, it seems that the engineer thought your question is a validation issue. Maybe you could try to give a more accurate description of the real problem - you want to upload a msix package for the app which used to be an appxupload.

Also, I'd like to ask if you can share the ticket number here? I'll send it the team and let them to check this again.

Besides, this question has nothing related to the WACK. Its's all about package format.

@Roy Li I tried to use MakeAppx.exe to create a bundle from the folder created by VS's package creation process: "...\bin\x64\Release\net8.0-windows10.0.22621.0\win-x64\AppPackages\Foo.Windows_6.0.17.0_x64_Test" and Got the following:

MakeAppx : error: Bundle creation failed. MakeAppx : error: 0x8051100f - The specified package format is not valid: The zip archive is missing the end of central directory marker.

Could you offer a tip on how to create a bundle from the files generated by VS?

I‘ve talked with the store team about this. Based on the response I got, there is no way to change this rule. You have to upload .msixbundle or .appxbundle for your submission.

This question is more related to the MSbuild. It's out of the scope of Partner Center tag. You might ask with MSbuild tag.

@Roy Li It seems that somehow my question has been misunderstood by many. My question is not about how to get around the rule, but about what I should do to follow the rule. I tried my best to follow official instructions to create a package complying with the rules but the Partner Center keeps rejecting it.

More specifically, I have tried to create .msixbundle or .appxbundle as required by the Partner Center, but it keeps rejecting them.

You can't just create a msixbundle package just by renaming a msix package. You need to create a msixbundle file.

This is not allowed. You can't just rename it.

WinUI3 project will be pakcaged as MSIX package automatically. Using makeappx or MSbuild might be the correct way. But it's out of the scope of the partner center tag.

The last solution is to switch back to your old version which uses UWP

I face the same issue. I also have an existing UWP app in Microsoft App Store with an existing msixbundle file. After porting my app to WinUI and creating/validating the msix package. When I try to upload it gives me the following error.

After going through the forums, I followed the instructions at the following to create a msixbundle.
